INTELLIGENCE · BUSINESS WALLETS

Watch the next layer of European business identity infrastructure.

The European Commission proposed European Business Wallets in November 2025. The initiative is still a legislative proposal, so this page tracks opportunity and architecture implications without presenting it as adopted law.

Business identity

The Commission describes wallets that could support identification and authentication of economic operators and public authorities.

Verified documents

The proposal envisages creating, storing and exchanging verified documents and supporting signatures, timestamps and seals.

Cross-border workflow

The strategic opportunity is interoperable B2B and B2G workflow—not simply putting a company profile on-chain.

Where blockchain may—and may not—fit.

Potential roles include provenance, shared evidence, registries and multiparty workflow. But the value case should be tested against existing trust services, identity standards, privacy requirements and simpler architectures.

Status: legislative proposal, not adopted final law.
